Flex Camp Phoenix & Wall Street
February 5th, 2010 by DC
I had the privilege of speaking at Flex Camp Phoenix last week. I gave my presentation on an introduction to Flash Player’s built in 3D effects and functionality.
It was a great event! If you have an opportunity to attend a Flash/Flexp camp I highly encourage it. There was great presentations for both the beginner to the advanced developer. I have applied to give this presentation again at SWF Camp10 here in Minneapolis. Fingers crossed it gets accepted!
The project which I presented is displayed below.
This project was obviously meant to be displayed at much bigger size than I can fit in the blog. I thought about linking you to a separate page, but having to use your scroll bars shows some of the neat features of the Flash 3D functionality. For example, use the combo box to select ‘Bouncing Balls Field of View’. There are additional controls to play with some simple physics and gravity to the right of the box. Scrolling over shows that these controls are actually represented in 3D and we get a much different perspective of the box. Cool!
The view source button doesn’t work due to my crappy blog setup, so it can be viewed here.
Hey Daniel - I actually saw you present this at the Flex Camp Wall Street and really liked the potential of Flash 3D - and feel it is needed more than ever to keep Flash ahead of all the capabilities of JS and HTML5. On that note, have you seen any “business applications” that are leveraging Flash 3D yet?
Thanks in advance!
